If you run equipment that uses coolant while milling or machining, you already know the coolant has to be diluted with water. What’s less widely understood is how much the quality of that water matters.
Poor water quality in a coolant solution causes excess foaming, and it leaves scale and mineral deposits behind on the machined parts themselves. On tight-tolerance work that is a scrap problem, not a housekeeping one.
Deionized water removes the dissolved minerals that cause both issues, so the coolant performs as the manufacturer intended and the finish comes out clean.
