Selecting the Ideal Water Dispenser for Your Workplace

Nov 20, 2023  ·  2 min read

Choosing a water dispenser for an office covers more ground than most people expect. Options now include ice cubes, instant hot water, carbonated water, and alkalized water — from a compact entry-level unit for a front office up to a high-output Executive Icemaker serving an entire factory floor.

Determining Capacity and Demand

Start by counting users and making sure you have enough chilled capacity for a hot afternoon in July. Our most popular cooler chills 0.7 gallons per hour. The Executive Icemaker serves up to forty people a day with both ice and water.

Five Things We’ve Learned Since 1993

  1. Not all filtration coolers are equal. Quality varies enormously. After servicing more than 15,000 water coolers, we know which equipment holds up and which doesn’t.
  2. Know your water source. Northern Nevada has both excellent and genuinely difficult water depending on where you are, and filtration needs differ accordingly.
  3. Know your demand. Size for peak use, not average, or you’ll run out exactly when people need it.
  4. Location matters. Placement determines whether people actually use it.
  5. Service matters most. Regular maintenance is the difference between a cooler that lasts and one that becomes a complaint.

Water Source and Quality

Northern Nevada’s water varies widely. Whether you’re drawing from the Truckee River, a blend of river and well water, or dealing with the harder water in outlying areas, the filtration needs to match the source.

Our reverse osmosis systems purify up to 99%, and an alkalinity filter is available as an option where a customer prefers higher-pH water.

Installation and Maintenance

Installing a cooler is about as involved as running a computer cable, and we can site units up to 1,000 feet from the supply. Supply lines are quarter-inch flexible NSF-approved UV-resistant poly tubing.

Every cooler carries a service sticker showing when it was last serviced. Cleaning, inspection, and sanitation happen every four months, with a full annual service included in the monthly fee.

From Small Offices to Naval Air Stations

Our clients range from single-room offices to one-million-square-foot warehouses. Once a business switches from bottled delivery, they rarely go back — the cost saving, the environmental improvement, and the convenience all point the same way.

NAS Fallon selected us to install over 900 point-of-use water coolers to address high mineral content and arsenic in their supply. It remains one of the largest installations of its kind in the region.
